PhD researchers Dayo, Melissa and Noor attended the 2025 INPOMS conference at Newcastle University

PhD researchers Dayo, Noor and Melissa attended the International Network on Polyoxometalate Science (INPOMs) conference on the 13th-14th March 2025, where researchers across the polyoxometalate community gathered at Newcastle University to showcase the latest developments in the field in the UK.

The conference provided an excellent platform for knowledge exchange, particularly for early-career researchers where three of our PhD students presented their research to the POMs community:

  • Dayo showcased work on using POMs as electrocatalysts for the hydrogen evolution reaction, highlighting their potential in sustainable energy applications.

  • Noor presented research into asymmetric POMs for biological applications, opening discussions around their versatility in medicinal and biochemical contexts.

  • Melissa explored the role of sulphurised polyoxometalates in lithium-sulphur batteries, pointing to promising avenues in next-generation energy storage.

Their presentations were met with enthusiasm and sparked valuable discussions, underscoring the impact of their contributions within the broader context of inorganic and materials chemistry. Overall, the INPOMs conference was a vibrant and engaging event, providing not only scientific insight but also fostering a strong sense of community and collaboration within the POMs field.
